Last night was awesome!! I sat through both sets. There was a great crowd at Birdland as well... I am looking forward to hearing your group again. I especially liked how you quoted from JJ Johnson's Lament inside a cadenza when you were playing beautiful unaccompanied trombone. The rest of your group was stellar as well. I really enjoyed hearing the piano player. He is certainly a new voice on Piano. Every solo he played was like a jazz or almost Classical composition that swung.. The Bass player also played some fierce licks as well. I like how you feature him both on Acoustic bass and playing some electric bass. I have never heard anyone get the sounds out of a bass that he can. In some solos he actually makes the bass sound like a very smooth sounding Bossa Nova Guitar. After this (in the same solo) he switched playing styles to some funky bass licks, then he switched back to some great traditional jazz bass riffs. The saxophonist and drummer also held it down by swinging hard. Peace and Blessings Paul J.

Hi Clifton, it was nice to meet you again in Stuttgart, after the fireball-performance of Sonny and you and the the whole band! Even if it would have been great hearing more of the colourful trombone-voice ;-)By the way - Sonny and the whole band got a very good review in "Stuttgarter Zeitung" (and Lenny Kravitz got a very bad one ;-( )).
